President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed warm greetings to the leadership and people of India on the occasion of the country’s 79th Independence Day.

In a message posted on X today, President Dr Muizzu extended his best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and the people of India, expressing hope for the nation’s continued success in the future.

He described India as one of the Maldives’ most trusted partners in development, noting that the strong people-to-people connections and collaborative projects between the two nations are a testament to their enduring ties.

President Dr Muizzu’s message comes shortly after Prime Minister Modi’s state visit to the Maldives last month, during which he joined in celebrations marking the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day.
