The Maldives Media Council (MMC) has announced that it has received 92 nominations for this year’s Journalism Awards.

The awards, now in their 12th edition, aim to recognise and encourage outstanding work by journalists across the country. Applications were invited in 14 categories, covering investigative journalism, social affairs, politics, judiciary and law, business and economy, sports, photojournalism, documentary, lifestyle, entertainment and arts, feature reporting, environment and sustainable development, and an award for overall excellence.

The call for entries opened on 13 August, with the deadline extended twice before the submission process closed this afternoon.

Winners will be selected based on their contributions to high-quality journalism and their impact on public discourse.
