A woman injured in a road accident in L. Gan on 6 July has died while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

According to police, the accident occurred at around 9:12 a.m. on 6 July when a motorcycle travelling from L. Fonadhoo to Gan lost control after colliding with a pole while enrouth to Maamendhoo. Two women were on the motorcycle at the time and were rushed to L. Gan Regional Hospital with critical injuries.

Abdul Hannan Abdul Rahim, CEO of L. Gan Regional Hospital, confirmed that both women were in critical condition before being transferred to IGMH for advanced care.

IGMH sources reported today that one of the women, a resident of K. Guraidhoo, succumbed to her injuries.

Police have not yet provided further details on the condition of the other passenger or the ongoing investigation into the accident.
