The foundation for the police station building in B. Dharavandhoo has been laid.
The foundation laying ceremony took place this morning in Dharavandhoo during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's ongoing trip to the islands of B. Atoll.
The foundation of the Dharavandhoo Police Station was laid by Minister of Homeland Security Ali Ihsaan, Police Commissioner Ismail Naveen, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Najah, and the island council president.
President Muizzu, government ministers, and senior officials from some companies attended the ceremony.
The government has noted that 46 islands in the Maldives do not have police stations. As per public demand, President Muizzu's goal is to establish police stations on all inhabited islands of the Maldives before the end of 2027, according to the government.
Homeland Minister Ihsaan had previously stated that as part of the police station development work, they will work to establish police stations on all inhabited islands of the Maldives within two years.
