Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun fogging operations in various areas of Hulhumale' as part of the "Madhirin Rahkaa" campaign aimed at reducing mosquito breeding.
According to HDC, the campaign is an annual program prioritized by HDC to identify and reduce mosquito breeding sites in Hulhumale' to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
As part of this campaign, HDC started fogging different areas of Hulhumale' yesterday. Fogging will continue until the 17th of this month, twice daily at 5:00 AM and 5:30 PM.
With mosquito-borne diseases on the rise recently, HDC said they are identifying mosquito breeding sites in Hulhumale', cleaning and eliminating some of these sites, as well as applying chemicals to certain areas.
In previous years, HDC has conducted numerous cleaning activities under the "Safe from Mosquitoes" campaign in collaboration with relevant agencies such as the Health Ministry and HPA to control and reduce mosquito breeding in Hulhumale'. HDC also encourages individual efforts to reduce mosquito breeding.
