The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) will start procuring fish from Fuvahmulah City this month, following discussions between the company and the Fuvahmulah City Council during a visit by MIFCO CEO, Retired Brigadier General Farhat Shaheer.

In a statement, MIFCO confirmed that arrangements are being made to facilitate fish purchases from the city. The company also announced plans to operationalise the Fuvahmulah fish processing centre this year, enabling residents to purchase processed fish locally.

According to the City Council, a MIFCO fishing vessel will be permanently stationed in Fuvahmulah from this month, and the company has assured that the storage facility will also be made operational within the year.
