The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed a one-year partnership with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT) to implement a series of community-focused programmes aimed at empowering youth, women, and people with special needs.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 13 August 2025 at a ceremony held at HDC headquarters. HDC Chief Operating Officer Ahmed Mohamed signed on behalf of the corporation, while MIT’s Director of Programmes, Adam Haleem, signed for the institute.
Under the agreement, HDC and MIT will collaborate on initiatives including career guidance programmes to enhance employability among school graduates, and vocational training in areas such as domestic appliance safety, motorcycle repair and maintenance, and wheelchair repair for individuals with disabilities.
HDC stated that it has implemented similar initiatives in the past and plans to expand its outreach in the future. The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive growth and empowering underrepresented groups through impactful community development programmes.
