The Maldives National University (MNU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the construction of a new campus in B. Eydhafushi.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, currently visiting Baa Atoll, attended the signing ceremony. MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Southee signed the agreement on behalf of the company, while MNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehnaaz Adam signed for the university.

Valued at MVR 80.79 million, the project is scheduled for completion within 720 days. Planned works include:

  • A two-storey student accommodation block covering 6,000 sq ft
  • A two-storey staff accommodation block covering 3,200 sq ft
  • A two-storey administrative block covering 3,000 sq ft
  • A two-storey classroom block covering 4,000 sq ft
  • A two-storey academic facilities block covering 4,000 sq ft
