British government has donated emergency response training equipment to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) under the UK’s Protective Security and Attack Response Programme (PSARP). The initiative aims to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities in the Maldives.
The donation follows discussions between the British High Commission in the Maldives and MACL in May this year to strengthen regional security. Acting High Commissioner Mohamed Taufeeq Wahab presented the certificate of donation at a ceremony attended by MACL CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, senior MACL officials, and representatives from the British High Commission.
Wahab said ensuring the safety of Britons abroad is a top priority, adding that the equipment will help MACL frontline staff assist those in need during emergencies, benefitting both Maldivians and the many British tourists visiting the country each year.
CEO Shareef thanked the British High Commission for its continued support, noting that MACL, as the main gateway to the Maldives’ economy, is committed to meeting domestic and international emergency response standards and training its staff to handle critical situations effectively.
