A man who crashed his car into a moving police motorcycle and another person in the car have been arrested.

Police said last night that when they asked a car driving at high speed in Hulhumalé to stop, it didn't. As the car continued to drive at high speed in Phase 1 and 2, police began to pursue it. The car then crashed into the police motorcycle, causing it to fall.

One of the two police officers on the motorcycle was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Details of the injuries were not disclosed.

Police said they have arrested the driver of the car and a woman who was also in the car, and are currently active at the scene.
