President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ plan to seize control of Gaza, describing it as a flagrant breach of international law and a severe violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

In a statement shared on his official X account today, President Dr Muizzu warned that such a move would further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories and jeopardise prospects for lasting peace and regional stability.

Reaffirming the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, the President stressed that any attempt to take control of Gaza or undermine Palestinian authority and sovereignty was “unacceptable”.

He called on the international community to take urgent and concrete action to block the implementation of Israel’s plan, to put an end to ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine, and to hold those responsible for violations in the occupied territories to account.

President Dr Muizzu added that decisive global intervention is vital to ensuring justice, protecting human rights, and safeguarding the prospects for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
