Police have seized 242 vape flavour bottles from an apartment in a Hiyaa flat, during a search linked to a domestic violence case reported at around 9:14 p.m.

In a statement, police confirmed the recovery but did not disclose any arrests. The case is under investigation.

Vaping and the import of vape products have been banned in the Maldives since 15 December under amendments to the Tobacco Control Act, which impose heavy fines for usage, sales, or distribution.

According to police data, fines issued last month included MVR 62,000 for vaping, MVR 7,000 for selling or buying vapes, and MVR 58,000 for possession.
