President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has welcomed the adoption of the “New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.”

In an official statement, the President praised the declaration as a clear show of global support for Palestinian sovereignty, statehood, and full membership in the United Nations. The declaration was the outcome of a high-level international conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, held at the UN from 28 to 30 July 2025.

President Dr Muizzu highlighted the importance of the declaration in backing Palestine’s economic recovery and security amidst ongoing conflict. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ unwavering support for an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with UN resolutions and international law.
