The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to appointe Abdulla Jameel Moosa and Mohamed Shahid as judges of the High Court.

The decision was made at a JSC meeting held last night, following interviews conducted with applicants for the post on 10 July.

Abdulla Jameel Moosa holds a Bachelor of Shariah and Law with Honours. He brings over 15 years of judicial experience, having served as magistrate of L. Dhanbidhoo Magistrate’s Court from 2003 to 2009 and later as a Civil Court judge until 2019. Since stepping down, he has been actively practising law.

Mohamed Shahid, who holds a Bachelor of Shariah and Law with Honours from the Islamic University of Maldives, previously served as an advocate for Honey Well Trading Company Pvt Ltd. He also held the position of deputy minister at the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.
