A Bangladeshi man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

The Criminal Court found Jamal Uddin guilty of touching a child's body with sexual intent. He was convicted under Section 3(a) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The case was filed five years ago. Following a lengthy trial, the court delivered its verdict this week, handing down a 14-year jail term.

Authorities have not released further details in order to protect the identity of the victim.
