Ahmed Mubeen has resigned as the Managing Director of the Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL).
RACL confirmed Mubeen’s resignation in a post on Facebook, thanking him for his service to the company. His resignation comes as the government moves forward with plans to dissolve RACL and transfer its operations to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
The decision to scrap RACL and merge it with MACL was made in September last year, as part of efforts to reduce government spending. The company, which has been operating at a high cost to the state, recorded a loss of MVR 950 million in 2023 under the previous administration.
