Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert for all regions of the country from 2 PM to 8 PM today, warning of severe weather conditions.
According to the alert, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in various areas, accompanied by strong gusts of wind reaching up to 45 miles per hour. The seas are forecast to be rough, with wave heights rising between 4 to 7 feet during cloudy periods.
The Met Office has also predicted continued heavy rainfall in isolated areas over the next 48 hours.
Last week, strong winds caused by the southwest monsoon uprooted several trees and caused damage in Hulhumalé, highlighting the impact of the ongoing weather conditions. Authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions during this period.
