Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has invited Maldivian businesses to invest in a range of key sectors in Sri Lanka, including IT, fisheries and agro-processing, tourism, real estate, and infrastructure development.
The invitation was extended during official talks held yesterday at the President’s Office in Malé, as part of President Dissanayake’s state visit to the Maldives at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaking at a joint press statement following the talks, both leaders highlighted Sri Lanka’s efforts to ease regulations for foreign investors. President Dissanayake assured that Sri Lanka welcomes Maldivian entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities across priority sectors.
The discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation in tourism, a vital industry for both nations. The two leaders explored ways to promote the Maldives and Sri Lanka as complementary destinations to strengthen regional tourism.
Further, the talks covered regional security in the Indian Ocean, environmental protection, and joint efforts to address climate change threats. Both presidents reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple areas of mutual interest.
