Sri Lankan President Anura KumarA Dissanayake has arrived in the Maldives on an official visit.

Dissanayake arrived here this morning and was received at the airport by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

According to the President's Office. The President of Sri Lanka will stay in the Maldives until May 30 at the invitation of President Dr Muizzu.

During his visit, the President will hold official meetings between Sri Lanka and the Maldives and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of cooperation, the President's Office said.

This will be Dissanayake's first official visit to the Maldives since taking over as Sri Lanka's president in September last year.

Foreign relations between The Maldives and Sri Lanka were established on July 26, 1965, the day the maldives gained independence from the British. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the foreign relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
