Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to make an official visit to the Maldives from 28 to 30 May, at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

According to the President’s Office, the visit will include official meetings between the two countries to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in key areas.

This will be President Dissanayake’s first visit to the Maldives since taking office in September last year.

The visit comes as the Maldives and Sri Lanka celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations, first established on 26 July 1965, the day the Maldives gained independence from the United Kingdom.
