Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service is set to launch in Baa Atoll on 28 July, expanding the Government’s Integrated National Public Ferry Network (INPFN).
In a statement, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation confirmed that the ferry service will be operated free of charge from 28 July until the third day of the following month, offering scheduled services across the atoll.
Ticketing for the RTL service will be made available via the RTL website and mobile app starting next month.
With the addition of Baa Atoll, the RTL ferry network will now cover 11 atolls across the Maldives. Ferry services are already operational in Laamu, Noonu, and Raa atolls, and future plans include linking four additional atolls in Zone VI.
Operated by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the RTL project is a key national initiative aimed at improving affordable and reliable sea transport across the country. The system divides the nation into six zones, to be implemented in three phases, with the goal of enhancing inter-island connectivity and supporting socio-economic development.
