Government has commenced four key development projects on N. Fodhdhoo, including the construction of a new health centre, police station, harbour, and fitness and recreation centre, as part of its ongoing development efforts in Noonu Atoll.
Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim laid the foundation stone for the new Fodhdhoo Health Centre, while Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihsan officiated the foundation-laying of the police station. Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu led the commencement of work on the fitness and recreation centre.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to build the health centre at a cost of MVR 26.8 million. The company has also been awarded the Fodhdhoo harbour development project by the Ministry of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for MVR 49.77 million, with completion scheduled within 390 days.
The harbour development project will include dredging a new basin of 30,648 cubic metres, canal filling of 3,990 cubic metres, the construction of 165 metres of revetment and 145 metres of outer wall, a 130-metre by 6-metre jetty, 600 square metres of pavement, and the installation of navigation and port lighting systems.
