President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the conservation of the coastal area in Landhoo and the development of a coastal protection area will commence later this year.

Speaking during his two-day visit to the atoll, the President stated that government projects are being rolled out in phases, with six batches of projects already awarded. He confirmed that the coastal area conservation and coastal works in Landhoo are part of the seventh batch, which will be awarded in September, with construction set to begin in December.

The coastal protection works and conservation efforts will be carried out together, President Dr Muizzu said.

Additionally, he revealed plans to expand Landhoo School, both in terms of infrastructure and resources, to better meet the needs of the community. The President also emphasised that development initiatives for Landhoo will be addressed in stages to ensure comprehensive progress.
