President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has instructed banks to facilitate the provision of US dollars for individuals travelling abroad for medical treatment, expanding the current arrangement under Aasandha.

At present, banks issue up to USD 2,000 for those seeking overseas medical treatment through the Aasandha scheme. In a post shared on X, the President announced that this benefit will be extended to patients under the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) as well.

He added that individuals travelling for medical purposes under NSPA will also be able to receive up to USD 2,000 from banks, similar to Aasandha patients, starting 1 August.
