A man has been arrested in a case where a person in a position of trust allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.

Police said today that a 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this case. The man was arrested this morning under a court order.

The police had previously stated that the case was reported on the 18th of this month from an island in one of the atolls among Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu, Gnaviyani, or Seenu Atoll.

The police said that the case is being investigated jointly by the Island Police Station and the Family and Child Protection department.
