Authorities have commenced efforts to tow illegally parked vehicles in Hulhumalé, particularly in areas where traffic flow is obstructed or vehicles are parked on double lines. Hulhumalé Phase I police announced on Sunday that vehicles parked in violation of traffic rules will be towed to ensure smoother and safer road use.
Police have urged motorists to park responsibly and highlighted that such violations cause risks and inconvenience to other road users. In addition to Hulhumalé, towing operations are also underway in Malé, where 420 vehicles were removed last month for illegal parking on Majeedhee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
Towed vehicles are released after 48 hours, with a fine of MVR 750 and additional penalties for outstanding fees and past violations.
