Individuals attempting to smuggle drugs into Kulhudhuffushi City by air have been arrested.
The police said that based on information received by their Counter Narcotics Intelligence, an operation was conducted which led to the arrest of Mohamed Humaam Hassan Naeem (29) of Lead, Kulhudhuffushi, and Abdullah Ibrahim (53) of M. Aroodhaage, Male, Male'. Both individuals were arrested in the Kulhudhuffushi Airport area.
In this operation conducted on July 18, when the two individuals were arrested and searched, three rubber packets and a juice packet containing what is believed to be drugs were found. The police stated that the provisional weight of these items is 52.2 grams.
When the two arrested individuals were presented to court for a remand hearing, Humaam Hassan Naeem was given a 10-day remand period, while Abdullah Ibrahim was given a 15-day remand period, according to the police.
The case is currently being investigated by the Kulhudhuffushi City Police.
