President Mohamed Muizzu met King Charles III at Windsor Castle during a private audience as part of his official visit to the United Kingdom.
According to the President’s Office, the meeting focused on exploring ways to further strengthen relations between the Maldives and the UK.
During the visit, President Muizzu also met David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, to discuss expanding UK scholarship opportunities for Maldivians.
The Maldives and the UK established diplomatic relations on 26 July 1965, the day the Maldives gained independence. This year marks the 60th anniversary of those ties.
