Velana International Airport (VIA) has announced a temporary parking ban in designated zones at Hulhumalé as part of preparations for the inauguration ceremony of its new terminal, scheduled for 26 May.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which manages VIA, stated that four-wheeled vehicles will not be permitted to park in the eastern parking zone of the airport starting from Thursday. Vehicle owners or maintenance personnel are advised to remove any vehicles parked in the area prior to the deadline.
Additionally, no vehicles will be allowed in the western parking zone after 18:00 on Thursday. MACL confirmed that any remaining vehicles will be removed in coordination with the Maldives Police Service.
The company noted that details regarding when parking will resume in these zones will be announced at a later date. MACL has apologised for any inconvenience the temporary changes may cause to the public
