Maldives Media Council (MMC) has opened applications for this year’s Journalism Awards, with nominations accepted from today until 1:00 p.m. on July 31.

The awards will be presented in two main categories: newspaper and audio-video journalism, covering a total of 14 areas. These include investigative journalism, politics, the judicial and legal sector, the economy, sports, photojournalism, documentaries, feature reporting, lifestyle and entertainment, the social sector, and environmental reporting. Special recognition will also be given through awards such as the Aspiring Journalist Award, Best Journalist of the Year, and Best Production by a Regional Newspaper.

Applicants must submit their entries through a Google Form provided by the council at https://bit.ly/40BzFNJ. The MMC has also released detailed evaluation criteria and published the official procedure for the awards selection process.
