The body of 79-year-old Zakariyya Mohamed, who had set out alone in a small dinghy from GDh. Gadhdhoo to Gan in the same atoll, has been found.

Ali Abdullah, a member of the Gadhdhoo Council, told "One" today that Zakariyya's body was discovered by a group of civilians who were searching for him in Gan.

According to the police, Zakariyya's body was found around 11:43 AM today. The police also stated that they are currently active in the area.

Ali Shareef, another Gadhdhoo Council member, told "One" that Zakariyya's body was found washed up on the shore at the end of Gan.

"Zakariyya's body was very swollen, but the clothes he was wearing were still intact," Shareef said.

He added that efforts are currently underway to remove Zakariyya's body from the shore and transfer it to a rescue launch. After that, they plan to take the body to the Gadhdhoo Health Center.

When Zakariyya's body was found today, the dinghy he had been traveling in had already been discovered yesterday. The MNDF (Maldives National Defence Force) stated that the dinghy was found yesterday morning, 10 meters deep in the lagoon between GDh. Gadhdhoo and Gamu.
