The police have urged to suspend water sports due to the current deteriorating weather conditions in the Maldives.

In a post on X today, the police stated that due to rough seas and strong winds currently affecting the country, they are requesting a temporary suspension of sea sports and other marine activities until the weather improves.

The police mentioned that they are receiving many reports of marine incidents due to the bad weather.

The Maldives is currently experiencing heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoon.

According to the National Meteorological Service (Met Office), adverse weather conditions are expected to continue in various parts of the Maldives during the upcoming week.

The Met Office has forecasted heavy rainfall this weekend as part of the ongoing southwest monsoon.
