State Electric Company (STELCO) will complete the transition to smart meters for all its customers by September, Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has announced.
In a Facebook post, Fahmy said the final preparations are underway to install smart meters in Hulhumalé Phase II, the last remaining area, alongside the launch of a companion smart app.
All STELCO customers will have smart meters by September, Fahmy stated. The app will allow users to track their electricity usage hourly, daily, and weekly, encouraging energy efficiency and reducing costs.
The app will also enable users to pay multiple bills at once and directly communicate with STELCO’s customer service via Stelco Care.
STELCO supplies electricity to 35 islands. While smart meters have already been installed across most of these areas, Hulhumalé Phase II remains the final step in the nationwide rollout.
