The opportunity to invest in starting a bunkering service along with a port in Laamu Atoll has been opened for investors.

The announcement to start a bunkering service with a port in Laamu Atoll was made at the ongoing Maldives-Singapore Business Forum in Singapore.

According to a presentation given at the business forum, the project includes providing bunkering services in Laamu Atoll, establishing port-related infrastructure, storage facilities, and support infrastructure.

The presentation stated that bunkering services are being initiated in Laamu Atoll because the area is an important channel for international travel.

The government has already started bunkering services in Ihavandhippolhu. The government has stated that this project has so far generated MVR 124 million in revenue for the state.
