The man who jumped off a sea ferry in an attempt to flee the police have been found hiding in the woods of Gaafu Alifu Maavaralu.

Maldives Police Service today said that the man jumped off a ferry traveling to Gaafu Alifu Kanduhulhudhoo last night. The man jumped off the vessel when he learned that the police have been mobilized in Kanduhulhudhoo after learning that a man on the ferry is bringing in illegal drugs to the island.

Police said that the man jumped off near Maavaralu last night and was discovered in the island’s woods today at 9 a.m. with the help from the people working on the island.

He is now in police custody and nothing illegal has been found on him. The three people who assisted the suspect on the escape last night on a dinghy was arrested last night.
