India and Maldives have agreed on the need to reform the main UN bodies, including the UN Security Council.

Speaking to the press in a joint press meet following the signing of six MOUs between Maldives and India, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that he and the Indian PM, Narendra Modi had also discussed international issues of mutual concern.

"We also agreed on the need to reform the main UN bodies, including the UN Security Council, and on the need to enhance the voice and participation of developing countries in international economic decision-making," President Solih said during the press meet.

The President also added that discussions were carried on about climate change as well, and revealed that the Prime Minister agrees that climate change is an urgent threat that needs our immediate attention.

"We agreed to work together to strengthen the global response to climate change," President Solih added.

The President further stressed that he was happy to inform the Prime Minister of the ratification of the Framework Agreement for Establishing the International Solar Alliance.
