President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that contracts for about 800 development projects will be signed this year.
The President made this statement while speaking at the ceremony held today in M. Muli to inaugurate the airport. At the ceremony, the President said that when he took office, work on many projects initiated by the previous government had been halted. He said that everything is now ready to restart work on many of these projects.
The President said that the government has so far signed contracts for 390 projects this year.
"In addition to these 390 projects, about 20 more projects will be signed very soon. And within this week and the next two to three weeks, contracts for about 300 more projects will be signed," the President said.
He added, "If we combine February and the next two months, we are handing over about 700 or 800 projects to various companies in about four to five months."
He said this includes projects open to the private sector as well.
The President expressed full confidence in the successful completion of these projects. He said he knows how these projects can be carried out and that they will proceed with the projects as planned.
The assurance he wants to give to the people of M. Atoll and all atolls of the Maldives is that they are focusing on fulfilling the promises, starting some things this year and that the things scheduled for next year will proceed as scheduled.
"As a team, as a strong team, all the ministers and MDs are working together on these matters," the President said.
