The Development Bank of Maldives (DBM) has stated that Noel Gregor Paterson-Jones was paid his salary up until his resignation from the position of Managing Director and CEO.
Noel Gregor Paterson-Jones was appointed as the CEO of the Development Bank in August of last year. He resigned from the position in March of this year.
Noel filed a case with the Employment Tribunal on the 7th of last month for not receiving his due salary and benefits. However, the Employment Tribunal dismissed the case on the 7th of this month. The Tribunal dismissed the case because he is not a Dhivehi speaker and failed to appoint an interpreter when given the opportunity to do so.
In a press release issued today, DBM stated that they do not believe Noel resigned from the position of Managing Director due to non-payment of salary. DBM said that he had been paid his full salary up until his resignation from the position.
DBM said that Noel had left the Maldives a few days before his resignation. DBM stated that Noel did not perform any role at the bank after submitting his resignation.
DBM said that Noel submitted his resignation to the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on March 20th of this year, and PC and PCB informed the bank's board and Noel on March 23rd that his resignation had been accepted effective from that date.
