The Managing Director of STO, Shimad Ibrahim, said tonight that the company has earned MVR 124 million in revenue from international bunkering services, which began in September last year to provide various services to international vessels crossing the Maldives.

The bunkering service was launched in Ihavandhippolhu as an offshore service in collaboration with Vitol, the world's largest energy trading company. STO uses two vessels for this service.

Speaking at STO's Annual General Meeting held tonight at Nasandhura Hotel, Shimad said that while bunkering services in Ihavandhippolhu are low, the service is very good in the Male' area. He said that the company has provided services to one of the world's largest shipping line's cruise liners that came to the Male' area.

"From this, I want to highlight that we have gained the confidence of major international shipping lines. And that our transactions are going well. There are still things we need to improve in bunkering. If we are to compete with nearby countries, especially countries like Colombo, we are working in consultation with relevant parties," Shimad said.
