Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen has said that work is underway to reduce the prices of domestic flights of the national airline, Maldivian.

The Minister said this while answering a question from PNC member Ibrahim Hussain of Fuvahmulah South constituency in today's session of the People's Majlis.

In response to a question about reducing ticket prices for Maldivian flights between Fuvahmulah and Male', the Minister said that a lot of work is being done to reduce ticket prices.

"The issue of Island Aviation's ticket prices not decreasing for flights between Fuvahmulah and Male', while all other costs are increasing, ticket prices have not increased, but we are looking to reduce ticket prices even further from now,"

When asked if any other airline has applied for permission to fly between Fuvahmulah and Male', the Minister said that no such information has been received so far.

However, the Minister said that Fuvahmulah Airport's runway is built to the maximum possible length, and while there are no plans to further develop the runway, there are plans to further develop the entire airport.
