The sub-committee of the Parliament's Public Finance Committee investigating the embezzlement case of the Police Cooperative Society (POLCO) in the police housing project (Blues Housing Project) has made its meeting confidential.

Today's sub-committee meeting was to get statements from senior Polco officials before finalizing the investigation report on the case.

At the start of today's committee meeting, the committee chair, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Nazim of Dhaandhoo constituency, said the POLCO case report has been divided into three parts.

"That is separately for three contractors - the Noomadi contract, the Island Expert contract, and the Amin Construction contract," Nazim said.

He said today's meeting would proceed with getting statements from senior POLCO officials.

As such, POLCO senior official Abdul Mannan Yoosuf and POLCO's first two-term treasurer Nahushad Sani have been summoned to the committee, he said.

Noting that the committee is proceeding with these cases in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Nazim said ACC is participating in today's meeting as an observer.

However, Nazim said they have conditioned making the committee meeting confidential. Therefore, Nazim proposed to make the committee meeting confidential.

MP Sujau of Baarah constituency seconded the motion. As no member objected to the proposal, Nazim decided to make the committee meeting confidential.
