Aminath Muna has resigned from her position as Deputy Minister at the Education Ministry.
Muna, who was a member of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), sent her resignation letter today.
In her resignation letter, Muna heavily criticized the government and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. She also noted that MDA President Ahmed Siyam Mohamed is being treated disrespectfully.
Muna's resignation comes after President Muizzu stated that MDA is no longer part of the government coalition. The President mentioned this at a press conference held last Saturday.
In the first round of the most recent presidential election, MDA worked in the MDP coalition. However, they changed their decision in the second round and formed a coalition with PNC.
At the press conference, the President said that MDA is no longer in the government coalition and only PNC remains. However, he did not give a reason for this.
The President also mentioned that some differences of opinion had arisen with MDA.
