Police have begun investigating a case of sexual abuse of a minor by family members on an island in the Maldives.

In a message sent to the media today, police said the case involves the sexual abuse of a 17-year-old minor on an island in the North Police Region (N, R, B, Lh). They did not specify whether the minor is male or female.

Police said the case of sexual abuse of a 17-year-old minor by people in positions of trust was reported on January 20, and no one has been arrested in the case so far.

Police said they are investigating the case in collaboration with relevant authorities.
