A man has been arrested in Hulhumale' for dangerous drunk driving.
Police said today that on the night of the 1st of this month, police on highway patrol noticed a car driving dangerously at high speed with hazard lights on and headlights off.
When signaled to stop, the car didn't stop, so other patrol beats were alerted. Based on this information, police patrol beats patrolling Hulhumale' were searching for the car when it was seen traveling from Haivakaru Magu in Hulhumale' Phase 1 towards Treetop.
When signaled to stop, the car didn't stop and continued to travel dangerously without slowing down even at bumpers and turns. The car finally stopped near Flat No. 97 on Rabaru Magu, police said.
In connection with this case, Mohamed Mais (23) of HM. Flat No. 07-1-4 / Male', who was driving the car, has been taken into police custody. When presented to court for a detention hearing, he was ordered to be detained for three days, police said.
Police further said that when the car was stopped, the steering of the right rear wheel tire was missing, and this part was found near Flat No. 103. Additional damage to the car was also noted.
Police said the car has been towed and the case is under further investigation.
