Aishath Asna Hamdhee of G. Silverge has been nominated to the People's Majlis for the position of Deputy Governor of the Central Bank (MMA).

In the letter sent by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to the People's Majlis nominating Asna for the Deputy Governor position, he requested the Majlis to consider her name and inform him of their decision.

After the letter was read at today's Majlis session, the matter was sent to the Public Finance Committee for further review.

Asna currently holds the position of Managing Director of Financial Sector Development at MMA. Previously, she also served as a Senior Manager at MMA.

The Deputy Governor position became vacant after the previous Deputy Governor, Ahmed Imad, resigned on March 17. He resigned after a request was sent to the People's Majlis to dismiss him, citing obstruction of work and lack of cooperation.
