Five people have been arrested from a house involved in the drug trade with a security guard at the door.

Maldives Police Service today said that five people were arrested from Maafannu Fashion Mead, a house in Male’ City, yesterday evening around 4:19 p.m. as part of their efforts against illegal drugs.

Police arrested two 21-year-olds, a 19-year-old, a 47-year-old and a 33-year old - all local men.

During the search of the residence, police found 11 rubber bands and four pieces of cellophane pieces containing suspected drugs.

Police said that the house was set up to run a large drug operation. And the house had a steel door to block access to police with a guard manning it.
