ID card and passport services have been launched for Maldivians living in Malaysia.

The service was launched during a ceremony held to meet with Maldivians living in Malaysia as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's current trip to Malaysia.

At the ceremony, Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihsan handed over a passport and an ID card to their owners to mark the launch of the service.

With the launch of ID card and passport services for Maldivians in Malaysia, this is the first time these services have been launched in a foreign country.

At the ceremony held today, a special student association for Maldivian students studying in Malaysia was also inaugurated. The President also announced that 3000 dollars will be deposited annually to this association from the government budget.
