The work on M. Muli Airport has been completed and a test flight landed yesterday.
The test flight is a trip made to conduct necessary assessments before starting commercial flights.
A Dash-8 aircraft of the national airline Maldivian landed at Muli Airport as the test flight. Residents welcomed the flight with a water salute.
The development of Muli Airport began in 2021, contracted to MTCC. This airport, built at a cost of over MVR 300 million, features a 1.5-kilometer runway and is developed with the most modern facilities. 36 hectares of land were reclaimed from the island for the airport.
This is the first airport in M. Atoll. Muli Airport is scheduled to be officially opened by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on a day later this week.
