A protest was held in Male' tonight calling for justice for the young woman found on the roof of a building in Male' last Friday morning.
Hawwa Yumna, 21, was found fallen on the roof on Friday morning. She is still receiving treatment at the hospital.
According to police, seven people were active with Yumna on Thursday night. That includes two women and five men besides Yumna. Police said the group first went to a house "in central Male'" that night.
Although police did not reveal the name of that house, it's understood that the house they were first in was M. Maandhoogey Dhekunuge. Police say Yumna fell from the ninth floor of H. Fentonia onto the roof of an adjacent warehouse.
The protest was held in the area of the Criminal Investigation Building on Majeedhee Magu, alleging that not arresting those involved in the incident and keeping their details secret is being done to protect them.
The area was mostly seen with youth. While some political figures also participated in the protest, the opposition MDP also protested in the area. However, police had put up barricades to prevent them from entering the protest area.
Protesters were calling for justice for the injured youth and proper punishment for those involved. They also heavily criticized the way police are conducting the investigation. As the protest continues, participants are saying they won't go home until justice is served.
