President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that we are in the process of establishing a long-term growth approach for sport, through the development of a 20-year National Sports Development Plan.

He made the statement in a message shared on the occasion of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

This ambitious plan will drive the decentralisation of sports, ensuring that talent enhancement, training programs, and competitions are accessible nationwide. This will create an environment where all aspiring athletes and sports enthusiasts can thrive, regardless of where they live.

"Sports has the unique ability to unite people, break down social barriers, and foster a sense of belonging. As we mark this pivotal day, we call on all stakeholders, athletes, coaches, associations, and communities to join us in this journey of inclusivity and progress, for the betterment of our nation," the message read.

The President emphasized that increasing sports diversity and providing equal opportunities for participation will also improve social fabric.
